Most of our answers began as someone else's question, so a message from you may well shape the next article. Whether you have a topic in mind, spotted an error or just want to say an answer helped, we are glad to hear from you.

    Where to write

Our shared inbox is hello@scotlandwide.com. Senna, Kester, Marguerite and Bramwell all read it, and messages are passed to whoever wrote the answer you mention. The form on this page simply opens your own email program with your message ready to go.

We fit the site around other commitments, so please allow up to a week for a reply. We do not have a phone line or a postal address for readers.

    What to include

    • For a correction: the page address, the sentence in question and, if you can, where you read the up-to-date information.
    • For a question idea: the question as you would ask it out loud. Plain wording helps us write a plain answer.
    • For feedback: what worked, what did not, and whether anything was hard to follow.

    What we cannot help with

We cannot comment on your symptoms, medicines, test results or treatment options, and we cannot recommend a particular clinician, clinic or product for you. As writers without clinical training, the responsible answer is to point you towards your GP, pharmacist or dentist, who can look at the whole picture. If something feels urgent, please do not email; contact emergency services or your local health advice line instead. Before You Act on Anything lists the signs that need fast help.

We are also unable to give individual tax, legal or business advice, though we are always happy to hear which small-business questions you would like us to cover in general terms.

    What happens next

Corrections are checked first, usually within a few days, and a second writer reviews any change before it is published. Question ideas join our shared notebook and are weighed whenever we plan new answers. We keep your email only as long as the conversation needs it; the details are in Privacy and Your Details.

    Inbox questions

    What people wonder before emailing

Quick answers about writing to the team.

Can you tell me whether my symptoms are serious?

We cannot, because we are writers and cannot examine you. A GP, pharmacist or your local health advice line can help, and urgent symptoms need emergency services.

When should I expect to hear back?

Usually within a week. Corrections are looked at first.

Can I suggest a question for a future article?

Please do. Write it the way you would ask a friend, and it goes into our shared notebook.

Does writing in sign me up for anything?

Nothing at all. We use your address solely to reply to that one email.

    A word before you send

    A human opens every email

There is no automated system behind our inbox. Each email is opened by one of the four of us, usually the writer whose answer you mention.

If we change an article because of your message, we are happy to let you know once the update is live; just ask in your email.
